If you need to use donor sperm or donor eggs to have a baby some infertility clinics – including both NHS and private – may operate a waiting list.
This is because some clinics, unlike here at Manchester Fertility, don’t have a supply of donors ready for you. They may not actively recruit sperm and egg donors like we do through our dedicated site, Manchester Donors.
And so when you apply for treatment using donor sperm or donor eggs, you’ll find yourself added to a waiting list for a donor. It may be many weeks, months and even, depending upon your requirements for a donor, years before a suitable donor is found for you.
And some clinics will even charge you a fee just for joining their waiting list. At Manchester Fertility, we would not charge you a fee to wait if the right donor wasn’t available straight away.
We can offer you immediate treatment using donor eggs or donor sperm. All of our donors are from the UK. They are fully HFEA-registered, identifiable in future to any children born and fully medically-screened to the strict criteria needed to be a donor. All of our sperm donors are men aged up to 41, and all of our egg donors are women aged up to 35 to ensure good egg quality. All of our donors donate only to us.
In most cases, we will be able to find you your ideal donor from our bank of donors. We can match many different characteristics, including height, eye colour, hair, and ethnicity. We can provide you with a personal overview of donors, detailing a bit about each of them – which they themselves have written - so you can make an informed decision about which may be right for you.
If the right donor isn’t available now, we will keep you informed as to when a potential match becomes available. We recruit donors through many different ways and are currently actively appealing for more Asian egg donors to help the many people who wish to find an egg donor who shares their culture and ethnicity.
