At Manchester Fertility, we continually strive to incorporate the latest technology into our patient journey to enhance the chances of a successful pregnancy. As a forward-thinking fertility clinic, we offer artificial intelligence (AI) to measure egg quality with enhanced accuracy and consistency. Specialist software can identify reliable indictors of egg quality, information that a human cannot detect.
The predictive capabilities of VIOLET™ & MAGENTA™ offer an early identification of egg quality so you can make decisions about your fertility, based on the quality of your eggs. The technology safely takes a photo of each egg and uploads it to a secure platform, where a personalised report is generated for you and discussed with your consultant.

How does AI software work?
Information about your egg quality can help you better understand your chances of success, empowering you to make the best decisions for you.
The software analyses images of your eggs, drawing from an extensive dataset of over 100,000 images and applies this to your eggs to give you a prediction of the number of blastocysts you may obtain and your chance of a live birth.
What is VIOLET™?
VIOLET™ is artificial intelligence used for patients who want to freeze their eggs for the purpose of preserving fertility. Currently, without such technology, the information following an egg collection is limited to the number of eggs frozen. But what about their quality?
With VIOLET™ AI-based reports, you gain personalised egg quality insights to help you better understand your likelihood of success with the eggs you’ve frozen.
How does VIOLET™ assess egg quality?
VIOLET™ uses a type of AI called deep learning, which can be used to recognise patterns across images that are invisible to the human eye. The model was built using over 100,000 egg images and their outcome data.
Through this robust analysis, the AI has learned which images are most related to blastocyst outcomes. When new images are uploaded to the software, the AI instantly compares the new image to all the others it has seen before and provides an egg quality score (0 – 10).
The higher the score, the higher the egg quality. The overall score for eggs in your cycle will offer guidance on the potential need for additional egg freezing cycles.
Why does VIOLET™ only report on mature oocytes?
An egg goes through different developmental stages.
As some eggs are immature and have not completed the necessary developmental steps to enable fertilisation, they are unsuitable for freezing. Mature eggs have completed the developmental stages and we can freeze these eggs.
What are the benefits of VIOLET™?
VIOLET™ allows you to:
1. Gain personalised egg quality insights based on images of your own eggs.
2. Receive a record of your egg freezing procedure to take home, including the images of your eggs.
3. Help you decide if you need further egg freezing cycles.
Are there any risks to VIOLET™?
We are confident that the imaging software and camera used to capture images of your eggs pose no risk to them.
There has been no report of adverse effects on the health of babies born following the use of this software.
Despite the predicted outcomes, it's important to note that not all eggs survive the freezing and thawing process.
Is VIOLET™ a HFEA-recognised add-on?
VIOLET™ imaging is an AI software that is currently not on the HFEA list of treatment add-ons.

What is MAGENTA™?
MAGENTA™ uses the same artificial intelligence software as VIOLET™ to evaluate and score egg quality giving you information to better plan for future cycles.
At Manchester Fertility, we use MAGENTA™ AI to help with complex cases of fertility where patients have experienced failed cycles. It provides a score for each egg from 0 – 10. A high MAGENTA™ score correlates with a higher likelihood of your egg developing into a day five or six embryo (called a blastocyst).
The MAGENTA™ report serves as a valuable resource, especially for patients who have had previous unsuccessful cycles outcomes.

1. Gain personalised egg quality insights based on images of your own eggs
2. Receive a record of your eggs, including images of your eggs which can be correlated to the embryos journey to the blastocyst stage.
3. Receive additional, individualised information to identify the possible reasons for previous unsuccessful cycles of treatment.

The VIOLET™ report gives the chances of live birth from the eggs that you have frozen.

The MAGENTA™ report is generated if you have had unsuccessful cycles of treatment. It interprets the likelihood of your eggs reaching the blastocyst stage provides a score between 0 – 10.
