Treatment with UK donor sperm

How does treatment work?

If you’re looking for donor sperm, our growing nationwide network ensures we can offer patients and clinics an extensive range of UK-based sperm donors that match requirements, with donor sperm available immediately with no waiting list.

Sperm donor selection is made with the support and guidance of our dedicated Semovo team, who get to know each of our sperm donors, giving patients a unique insight into their sperm donor so they can choose their donor with confidence.

When is donor sperm recommended?

Every treatment cycle conducted at Manchester Fertility starts with a medical consultation, so we can create a personalised treatment plan for your best chance of success.

Our doctors will recommend the best treatment type for your individual circumstances. Treatment with donor sperm might be recommended if;

  • You are a same-sex female couple
  • You are a single woman
  • There is a male infertility factor making it difficult for you to conceive
  • You have a high risk of passing on a genetic abnormality on the male side

Why choose us for treatment with donor sperm?

We have helped thousands of same sex couples, single women and couples with male-factor infertility to become parents through treatment with donor sperm. Our sperm donors are committed to helping all people achieve their dream of a family.

The benefits of having donor sperm treatment with us include;

Health screened donors

We have an extensive screening procedure to ensure every one of our donors meet the highest standards set by UK guidelines.

The results of these tests are available to view on the donor’s profile through our BuySperm website.

HFEA-registered identifiable donors

Not only do our donors meet HFEA's safety standards, but they also agree to be identifiable to your child at the age of 18.

Detailed Donor Profiles

Our BuySperm website allows you to browse all donors that are currently available for treatment. Our donor profiles include;

  • A pen picture written by the donor, describing themselves and their life in their own words
  • Career and educational background
  • Hobbies and interests
  • Their reasons and motivations for donating
  • A goodwill message to your child, which you can show your child in future
In-house donor programme

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I find out about my sperm donor?

Although sperm donors and recipient patients are anonymous to each other, you will be given lots of detailed information about your donor.

Because we get to know our donors well, we can give you some personal insight as well as the information in your sperm donor’s profile, which includes:

Physical details: Such as height, weight, hair, eye colour, ethnicity

Hobbies & career: What your donor likes to do and the job he has

Pen picture: A personal ‘about me’ written by the donor. This is where your donor will go into detail about his outlook on life, personality, family background, current family life, the type of person he is and why he decided to donate sperm.

Goodwill message: Your sperm donor also writes a goodwill message to the child you may have, which you can show them someday.

If your treatment is successful, you can also find out if your donor has helped anyone else to have a family and if your child has any donor siblings, via the HFEA.

Can I reserve sperm for sibling use?

Yes. If your treatment is successful, you can opt for a family-slot reservation, subject to sperm availability. Sperm from your donor will be reserved for you to use in future, so that your children are related.
