Sickle cell

I have PCOS and my husband and I are both Sickle cell carriers.
We are planning on having a baby soon and are keen to explore what available treatment is best for us, to ensure we get pregnant and importantly have a healthy child without sickle cell.
Please advise on the availability of treatments, and duration.

Please note that all the answers we give are on a generic basis only, as we cannot provide more in-depth answers without access to your medical history. Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is the route you should take.  Through genetic counselling (referred by your GP) you may be referred to Guy’s Hospital London who can test your embryos for sickle cell.
