45 years old and IVF with own eggs?

Q: I am 45, still have a regular 28 day period and my husband is 28 and we would love a baby. I have one tube that is blocked, is it possible for me to have IVF with my own eggs?

A: Although you may conceive naturally at the age of 45, IVF is unlikely to be successful. At Manchester Fertility we have not had a live birth from any patient having IVF using their own eggs. Egg donation would be a much more effective treatment and currently we have egg donors available.
