Emma Hogg

Clinical Embryologist

Emma Hogg

As an embryologist, Emma’s main role is to perform intricate scientific procedures in the lab, including preparing the eggs/sperm and creating and looking after the embryos. She also has a lot of contact with patients to keep them updated on how the process is going.

Emma has always found assisted reproduction treatment fascinating and has been developing her knowledge of the evolving field of embryology through both formal education and in lab experience. Formally, she has earned a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Oxford, an MSc Reproductive and Developmental Medicine from the University of Sheffield and she completed the NHS Scientist Training Programme at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester to become an embryologist.

In her professional experience, Emma worked as a Clinical Embryologist at the Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health in London. Her specific role at the clinic was focused in both the surrogacy and embryology teams has allowed her the experience of helping on a variety of complex patient cases and to develop the skills to deliver the patient-centred care that this field requires.

Emma says

The prospect of being able to help our patients have children through science is something that I will always find incredible. I feel so privileged to be able to play a part in such an important journey for our patients. Manchester Fertility has a great reputation for outstanding patient care and for offering treatments at the forefront of the field – I can’t wait to be part of the team and contribute to the great work that they do to achieve success for patients. What goes on in the embryology lab can be a real unknown for patients, so if I can put their minds at ease even a little bit through our conversations I feel like I’ve done my job.
