Changing clinics and offering Intralipid?

I'm thinking of changing my clinic. I'm currently at Liverpool Women's Hospital but just wondering if you offer Intralipid therapy at the clinic?

Manchester Fertility does not currently recommend intralipid therapy although when treating recurrent implantation failure there is increasing evidence to support a quad therapy using progesterone, heparin, aspirin and steroids following embryo transfer.  If you wish more information about this then please make an appointment to see one of our Consultants.

Acupuncture before IVF

Do you recommend acupuncture before IVF and how long before a cycle should I start? Can herbs be dangerous if I want to have IVF? We have been trying for three years to get pregnant and are looking into IVF, I have already spent a lot of money on books and diets that are supposed to work and don't. And I don't know whether or not to trust acupuncture and herbs. Thanks

Acupuncture has been shown to have some benefit in conjunction with IVF.  The main failing point is trying to organise the acupuncture at the same time as the IVF treatment.  I would definitely not recommend any type of herbal medicine whilst undergoing IVF as it will not be known if the two types of medicine would counteract each other.

Reproductive immunology testing

Hi. I've now had a total of 4 blastocysts transferred - one fresh after IVF, two FETs replaced together after a medicated cycle and one FET after a natural cycle. None of these have worked and I'm wondering where I go from here. I've read about reproductive immunology testing - do you think it's now something I should consider? Thanks

I don’t think there is sufficient evidence in favour of reproductive immunology.  However, I do think that you should seek advice on the possibility that uterine factors may be contributing to your lack of success.

Assisted Hatching

Do MFS ever carry out assisted hatching? What are your thoughts on this please Professor Brian? Many Thanks

We don’t currently offer assisted hatching at Manchester Fertility.  We constantly review the literature and to date there is insufficient evidence that assisted hatching has a positive effect on live birth rates.
