We are starting 2013 off with some great news at Manchester Fertility. If you need a donor egg to have a baby, then we have donors ready and waiting for you at our clinic.

Despite some media reports and the continued, common misconception that infertility clinics still have lengthy waiting lists for donor eggs, at our clinic we actually have more than enough donors to meet current demand.

So if you need a donor egg, there really is no better time to start your treatment with us. As we have people waiting to donate their eggs, we should be able to match your desired characteristics.

All of our egg donors are from the UK and who all have passed the strict screening tests needed to be accepted as HFEA-registered egg donors. This means that they have been tested for common genetic diseases and conditions, have a clear medical history and are all aged 35 or under to ensure that you have the best chance of pregnancy using their egg for your treatment cycle.

But how do you know if you need a donor egg to have a baby? Typically, the types of women who we recommend the use of a donor egg to are those whose own eggs are not viable, either because of their age, a medical condition or previous medical treatment which has affected their fertility. Some women may choose to use a donor egg if they have a family history of a genetic condition.

Whatever the circumstances, we will always explain to you in full all of your treatment options, so you can make an informed decision, and we will always only recommend treatment to you which we believe gives you the greatest chance of success.

Our pregnancy results for our patients using donated eggs is consistent and successful. Our latest analysis shows that currently, almost 45% of women who use eggs from our donors to have a family become pregnant (pregnancy rates are only recorded by us when a foetal heartbeat is confirmed by ultrasound scan).

If you’re interested in IVF using a donor egg, then the first step is to contact us today. Our friendly Patient Advisors are here to help you understand the process, and will be happy to make you an appointment for a free ‘one-to-one’ so you can find out more about what is involved and take a tour of our clinic. If you wish to begin treatment that is when you’ll see one of our consultants who will start you on your treatment path, which will involve seeing our counselling team. All patients who are considering using donor eggs, sperm or embryos are given counselling to ensure that you understand the implications, both now and in the future.

So although using a donor egg for pregnancy does sound daunting, rest assured that we are here to guide you through it every step of the way. We will always make sure that you are fully informed at every stage and we are always here to answer any questions you may have, or even just provide a listening ear if you need it.
