These are the options you have as an egg donor with Manchester Fertility. By donating altruistically, you receive the HFEA-set compensation of £750 per donation cycle, in recognition of the time and commitment it takes to be an egg donor.
Or, if you need IVF treatment yourself, donating your eggs could be a way to make private IVF more affordable. In return for donating half of the eggs collected following ovarian stimulation, your cycle will cost you £870 including all necessary drugs. The eggs you donate will be used to help other women have a baby. This is called egg-sharing and it is a way to help both women who need IVF, and those who need donor eggs, at the same time.
Egg-sharing has become very popular since we introduced it as more couples face the NHS IVF postcode lottery and need to turn to private IVF to have their families.
Our latest pregnancy figures (only pregnancies confirmed by ultrasound scan) show that the vast majority – 55% - of our egg-sharers achieve pregnancy from their egg-sharing IVF cycle.
To be an egg-sharer and get cheaper private IVF with us, or to be an altruistic egg donor and receive the £750 compensation, you must meet certain health and age criteria. You must be aged 18-35, in good health – including being a non-smoker with a healthy BMI – and no hereditary or genetic conditions.
The criteria for egg-sharing and egg donation is strict to ensure that the eggs that are being used by our patients to have a baby are of the best quality they can be.
