REPORTS TO: Head of Laboratory

We're looking for a dedicated state-registered embryologist for a full-time one-year fixed-term maternity cover contract, to help us deliver excellent care, with the opportunity to be involved in research projects and training of STP and other staff members.

We have a varied caseload, including elective oocyte vitrification, surgical sperm retrieval, PGT-A, PGT-M and PGT-SR. As a clinic, many of our cycles are carried out using donor gametes, from our in-house egg bank or Semovo, our sister sperm bank.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Perform all aspects of embryology lab work including:

  • Oocyte retrievals
  • Sperm preparation for treatment
  • Insemination and fertilisation checks
  • ICSI (if qualified)
  • Embryo grading, selection and transfer
  • Oocyte and embryo cryopreservation and thawing/warming
  • Embryoscope annotation
  • Surgical sperm retrieval
  • Deliver the highest standards of patient care to all Manchester Fertility and Satellite patients
  • Participate in the daily clinical and administrative activities within the Embryology laboratory and office
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and submit HFEA outcome forms via PRISM
  • Assist with audits within the unit as required
  • Perform sperm donor bookings
  • Maintenance and cleaning of the IVF laboratory
  • Supervision of junior team members where appropriate
  • Participate in the weekend (~1 in 4) and on-call rota as required

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of all technical aspects of Clinical Embryology
  • Knowledge of the day to day running of an Embryology laboratory
  • Knowledge of the legal requirements of providing an Assisted Conception Service (HFEA code of practice)
  • Be aware of health and safety and COSHH legislation

JOB SPECIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Life Sciences degree (Essential)
  • State Registered as Clinical Embryologist with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Essential or on track to complete via STP)
  • Must have right to work in the UK
  • ICSI practitioner (Desirable)
