After several years of trying to conceive, my GP referred us to Yorkshire Fertility. Because of medical complications I’d experienced at the age of 14, I had always been told that my fertility might be affected, but at this age, fertility was something I never gave a thought to. But when I got older, it became such a huge part of our relationship and daily life.
Because of my medical history, my situation was more complex. I went through a period of self-blame. We decided to move forward with IVF, viewing it as both a chance and a journey. My acupuncturist once said, “IVF is a journey, not a destination,” and I held onto those words throughout.
Our egg collection and embryo transfer took place at Manchester Fertility, and I was incredibly nervous. However, from the moment we arrived, the team were professional and reassuring, making me feel supported, respected, and safe. Our first round resulted in 8 eggs, with 3 embryos suitable for freezing. When we attended our embryo transfer, we were delighted to learn that 2 more had developed, giving us 5 chances from our very first cycle.
Today, we are blessed with a beautiful baby girl. It was the hardest journey we have ever been on, but also the most rewarding. We are endlessly thankful to the incredible team at Manchester Fertility for their exceptional care. They guided us through every step with professionalism and kindness, and we believe their support made all the difference.
If it weren’t for either clinic, we wouldn’t have our baby girl! The journey was filled with emotion, doubt, and hope, but I would do it all a thousand times over for the joy of holding her in my arms
