My fertility journey was certainly a rocky one. Beginning in 2021, what followed was a slow unfurling of our best-laid plans and destruction of our optimism with early miscarriages, leading to a PCOS diagnosis, discovery of other genetic markers that may impact our ability to conceive, and an eventual realisation that trying on our own wasn't a sustainable route.
We came to Manchester Fertility in 2023 and tried cycle regulation with medication before eventually opting to go ahead with egg collection, which was kick-started on Christmas Eve! We ended up with 5 viable eggs, and after some heartbreak, we found out on our 4th egg that we were pregnant again, this time with our son Kit.
There were moments of grim acceptance that maybe if it didn't work out, and we decided not to get back on the rollercoaster, things wouldn't be so bad without kids. But eventually things aligned, the days ticked closer to that 12-week mark, and our scans were clear. We were having a healthy baby. And eventually, we learned, a healthy baby boy.
The care we received from Manchester Fertility was fantastic. We could not be here today without the diligence and compassion of the team, from the reception team's welcome to the nurses, midwives, and doctors, to the embryologists in the lab; everyone made this happen for us. All I have is this word, which will never ever be big enough to contain the gratitude I hold in my arms, growing bigger and bigger by the day - Thank you.
