Creating your family is one of the most life-changing decisions you will ever make, so it’s important to put your trust in a clinic that understands your journey and supports you. There are many reasons that you may feel the need to change fertility clinics, so if you find yourself in this position we can help.

In this blog, we explore some of the reasons patients transfer their care and, based on decades of experience, what to look for in a clinic.

Why you might want to transfer your care

It's so important that from the moment you begin your journey with a clinic, you feel completely comfortable with the proposed treatment, the clinic's team of experts, the success rates for treatment, and other factors such as the location and accessibility.

If you don't feel reassured by the treatment plan, it’s always worth asking for a more detailed explanation in a way you can understand, including a full breakdown of costs.  There are so many aspects to fertility treatment, and patients have to be sure that the clinic and its team are meeting their needs entirely.

If you feel your needs are not being met, rest assured that transferring your care to another clinic is entirely possible. There are many reasons patients may want to change clinics. It may be: -

  • You don't feel you had adequate care and support
  • The pricing is different to the price advertised
  • There is a lack of communication
  • You are not getting the results you thought you would
  • You don’t feel the team have the expertise to support you fully
  • You want a second opinion

When paying for any service, you have consumer rights, and the fertility sector is no different. If you have concerns during your treatment, you should feel able to raise them with your clinic as soon as possible. Our internal review system means we analyse every treatment to provide our patients with the best service possible. We welcome all patient feedback we receive but if your clinic is less receptive and doesn’t manage to rectify your problems you have every right to switch to another clinic that is better suited to your needs.

We always work professionally to the highest standard, attracting our core team of experienced doctors and anaesthetists, who are leading figures in the fertility sector. Our team of experts have vast collective knowledge, meaning that whatever your medical history, we have the specialised expertise to support you in your fertility journey.

Many of our doctors and anaesthetists still practice within the NHS and in private practice. Their focus is to instil confidence in our patients so you can understand your specific circumstances, and determine the treatment that is best for you.

Success Rates:

At Manchester Fertility, we prioritise honesty and transparency in all aspects of our practice, including our success rates. We understand the importance of providing clear and understandable information to our patients, and our team is dedicated to explaining any data in detail.

With fertility treatment, the most helpful success rate statistics are often long-term data, as every journey to parenthood looks different for each individual. Only by analysing this long-term data can we accurately depict statistics like clinical pregnancy rate. While waiting for the next round of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA)’s long-term data analysis, we are able to provide our own analysis to give patients the most current success rates.

"I'm pleased to report that our latest data (2021) on IVF/ICSI using patients' own eggs reveals promising clinical pregnancy rates. For individuals under 35, we've achieved a 49% clinical pregnancy rate, demonstrating the effectiveness of our protocols and techniques. Similarly, for patients aged 35 to 37, our clinical pregnancy rate stands at 39%, indicative of our commitment to providing high-quality fertility care across age groups."

Our current success rates for all age ranges are available on our website, and you can find the latest national statistics. We encourage patients to review these figures and engage with one of our friendly patient advisors to discuss any questions or concerns. At Manchester Fertility, we strive to empower our patients with comprehensive information and support throughout their fertility journey.

Transparent Costing & Finance Options:

Costs are a big part of the decision-making process when it comes to your fertility journey. Understanding all the costs involved before starting your path to parenthood is vital, which is why we are completely transparent about pricing. Our patient advisors fully explain all our treatment plans, so you know exactly what your treatment will cost, what is included in your package, and any additional costs you may incur.

To mitigate the risk of unexpected costs, patients should thoroughly research clinics, ask detailed questions about treatment costs, plus any additional costs, such as preliminary investigations and request written treatment plans that outline all potential expenses before committing to treatment.

Additionally, patients can inquire about financing options or payment plans to help manage the financial burden of fertility care, like the ones we can talk to you about through Access Fertility, which include 0% finance for 12 months, fertility loans with repayment periods of up to 7 years and prepaid, refundable IVF packages for those opting for multiple cycles.

Technological Innovation:

At Manchester Fertility, not only do we have the latest and most advanced technology we also have an innovative specialist team that are experts in using it. Our purpose-built laboratory uses the most advanced technologies and equipment to safeguard the eggs and sperm in our care and ensure our teams have the perfect environment for creating and monitoring your embryos.

Clinic Reputation:

Choosing a clinic with a good reputation and excellent reviews is important when deciding where to have your fertility treatment. We love to hear how our team members have supported patients through their fertility journey.

"Siobhan was kind and friendly, and the conversation was really informative. It was the first time in a long time we felt like someone was really listening to us and giving helpful advice on how we can move forward in our fertility journey."

How to transfer your care

If you decide we are the right clinic for you, our new patient team will support you in transferring your care to Manchester Fertility.

Patients must request a full copy of their records from their previous clinic. If your investigations are still current, we will arrange a consultation with one of our specialists to create a treatment plan for them. If any investigations have expired, they will be repeated before a consultation.

Resuming treatment in this way allows us to diagnose any problems that occurred in previous treatment cycles, offer a new treatment plan with the best chance of success, and provide a truly fresh start no matter where you are in your broader fertility journey.

If you have sperm, eggs, or embryos at another clinic, our team will advise you on the best way to transfer them from your current clinic to Manchester Fertility.

We welcome patients who feel the need to transfer their care. We take the time to understand your history and alleviate any issues where we can. The most important thing to us is that our team of incredible experts cares for and supports you.
