Counselling

Counselling is an important part of our commitment to couples by offering the greatest possible care and support before, during and after treatment.  Our counsellors are highly experienced.

Difficulties surrounding infertility

Longing to have a family of your own is one of the most natural of human desires and prolonged childlessness may create personal crises.

Some couples will have been expecting problems whilst others may come across difficulties when they start trying to conceive.  This affects couples and individuals differently and may involve feelings of anger, shame, envy, guilt, loss of control, being on the fringes of society and a general sense of despair.

This is why we place such strong emphasis on providing the best possible counselling service.  The need for counselling is fully recognised by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority.  All couples who receive treatment with donated sperm, eggs or embryos are required to discuss the implications with one of our counsellors.

Talking often helps at times of stress and counselling is a chance to share and explore difficulties with someone who is not personally involved but who understands what you are going through.

If your treatment is not successful, our counsellors are on hand to discuss any of the issues that may have arisen.  They can help you work through any anxieties you may be experiencing.  Our counsellors are Helen Bohme, Jenny Dunlop and Beverley Meakin.
