If you’ve had repeated implantation failure following IVF or recurrent miscarriages, we offer a form of supportive treatment called Quad Therapy. But what is it, and how does it help?

Quad Therapy is a combination of four different types of drugs, which help to address issues with the immune and clotting system in your body that may be preventing you becoming pregnant or the pregnancy progressing.

When your immune and clotting system malfunctions, it can cause implantation failure and miscarriage. Common issues include having too high a number of Natural Killer (NK cells), these are special white blood cells that play a critical part in your body accepting the embryo and implantation, and other factors such as the presence of Antiphospholipid Antibodies (APAs), which are often found in patients who have repeated miscarriage and implantation failure.

Low dose aspirin, low dose Prednisolone, a form of heparin and progesterone work together to supress an overactive immune response to a pregnancy and to regulate the clotting in your body, so that your embryo can implant and grow.

We may recommend Quad Therapy to you if you’ve had repeated failed cycles of infertility treatment before, despite having good quality embryos, or repeated miscarriage. We will identify first whether Quad Therapy could help increase your chances of successful pregnancy and birth, as it’s important to remember that not all patients benefit from it due to the varying causes of implantation failure and miscarriage.

Our Medical Director Dr David Polson and fertility specialist Dr Anamika Rao have specialism in the field of early pregnancy issues, specifically recurrent miscarriage and implantation failure, and we’ve helped many patients to achieve pregnancy despite reproductive autoimmunity issues.
