Choosing a clinic by results

The publication of highly selective results (showing only a clinic's best results) is misleading to those seeking fertility treatment.  At MFS we report the live birth rate by the age of the woman for every treatment cycle started.

The data has been certified and is published by the HFEA in the 2005/2006 Guide to Infertility on page 112.

Couples should note that to avoid bias, the use of percentages is used only when more than 50 cycles have been started and caution should be exercised when making decisions based on small numbers.

Patients should insist on being shown a complete data set.  This must show the live birth rate not just the pregnancy rate for all cycles started.  Insist on being shown the HFEA certified live birth rates in addition to the clinic's latest live birth rate.
