44 years old and low AMH

I am a 44-years old going on 45 soon. I tried natural conception without success. I had some tests done and they came back with 2.4pmol AMH and 3 follicles on day 5. Except this low count, blood flow is great in ovaries and uterus and no medical issues. What are the chances of getting pregnant with IVF and how long will it take to retrieve eggs?

It takes around 10-14 days of stimulation to be ready for egg collection. With your results there is a chance to collect eggs however the risk of cycle cancellation because of low response is high.

Another factor to consider is your egg quality. Clinical pregnancy rates for your age are in the range of 3% per started cycles. There is also the relative high rate of chromosomal abnormalities which can result in miscarriages or Downs Syndrome. Altogether IVF is not recommended in your age-group. The best chance to have a baby is to consider donor egg treatment which we can provide at Manchester Fertility.
