Can I get pregnant if I haven't had a period for 3 years

I lost a lot of weight over 3 years ago due to illness and I haven't had a period since, I have put most of the weight back on now but still haven't had a period. I recently got married and have been trying for a baby over the last year. Would I still be able to conceive? Can you please advise me on my possible options going forward?

This information was published 9 years, 2 months ago and was correct at the time of publication. It may not reflect our current practices or regulations.

Please note that all the answers we give are on a generic basis only, as we cannot provide more in-depth answers without access to your medical history. If you need a more detailed response, tailored to you, we would recommend a consultation with one of our Fertility Specialists for more comprehensive medical advice.

It is difficult to answer your question without more information about you. I would advise you to have a fertility MOT either here at Manchester Fertility or you could approach your GP for help. The MOT will look at your hormone levels and perform a pelvic ultrasound scan to determine the cause of your lack of periods. With this information and your medical history the Doctor will be able to give you a clearer answer on your chance of conceiving.
