Hi just have question

Hello. May we ask about fertility? My wife had started her first day period last January 24th. Then we did have sex on the 31st of January (8th day). Then on the 3rd of February, she got her white mens with clear fluid. On the 6th of February, she did ovulate based on the common symptoms (again white / clear discharge, above temperature felt, little cramps).

Our question, what will be our chances of her getting pregnant.

Thank you!

This information was published 6 years ago and was correct at the time of publication. It may not reflect our current practices or regulations.

Please note that all the answers we give are on a generic basis only, as we cannot provide more in-depth answers without access to your medical history. If you need a more detailed response, tailored to you, we would recommend a consultation with one of our Fertility Specialists for more comprehensive medical advice.

We know that sperm can survive in the female body for up to 5 days. So having intercourse up to 5 days before ovulation can result in pregnancy. It is rather difficult to guess the chance of getting pregnant, it depends of several factors. Checking the dates you should have the answer by now.

If your question is related to contraception then safe methods like hormonal, barrier methods or a coil are recommended, during the entire cycle.

If your question is about trying for a baby, you are advised to have sex 2-3 times a week. It is a good idea to purchase a home ovulation predictor kit to prove monthly ovulation. I would also advise a semen analysis (sperm test) unless there is proof of fertility (pregnancy achieved recently).
