Slow-moving sperm, poor sperm motility
IVF may be recommended if your sperm isn’t able to reach the egg as well as it should. Sperm is mixed with the egg in our laboratory, with fertilised eggs developed into embryos and transferred back into the uterus to grow.
Low sperm count, abnormal-shaped sperm, sperm DNA damage
If your sperm shows a particular issue –such as abnormal shape or high levels of DNA damage – ICSI, or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, may be advised. This is where a single, healthy sperm is selected by our expert Andrologists from your sample, and injected directly into the egg to fertilise it.
Very low sperm count
We may be able to build up enough of your sperm for treatment through a technique called MERC – Multiple Ejaculate Recovery and Cryopreservation. We take multiple samples and freeze all the collected sperm for use in ICSI treatment.
No sperm in sample or previous vasectomy
Some men don’t produce any sperm at all, due to a medical issue or previous vasectomy. We offer both reverse vasectomy reconstruction and a highly-specialised technique called Surgical Sperm Retrieval. This is where sperm may be able to be extracted from testicular tissue, and there are various techniques to maximise viable sperm dependent upon your individual diagnosis.

Worried about male fertility problems? Get fertility tested
If you aren’t getting pregnant and are concerned sperm issues may be the cause, get fertility tested. Our Fertility MOT tests will identify if there’s a problem preventing natural conception in either of you – such as blocked fallopian tubes and ovulatory problems or issues such as low sperm count, slow moving sperm or abnormally-shaped sperm.
