Egg-sharing is where you agree to be an egg donor and in return, your private cycle of IVF with us costs £870 inclusive of all screening and fertility drugs.
You can egg share if you’re single and want a baby using donor sperm, are a couple with fertility issues or are in a same-sex relationship. As long as you meet the criteria, you could egg-share. Here are some common FAQs which may help you decide if egg-sharing is right for you:
How does egg-sharing work?
When you egg-share, your treatment is the same as a typical IVF/ICSI cycle involving ovarian stimulation and egg collection, but instead of all the eggs we retrieve being used for your own treatment, you donate half of them to our egg donor programme, so we can help women who need a donor egg to have a family.
Who do I donate my eggs to?
As an egg-sharer, you will be matched to a recipient – one of our patients who needs a donor egg – before your treatment starts. Your treatment and that of your recipient is sychronised and carefully timed. She will never know who you are except for the details on your donor profile.
How many of my eggs do I get to keep?
Depending on how many eggs we retrieve depends on how they are shared. If eight eggs or more are collected, these are shared equally between you and the recipient. If an odd number is collected, the extra egg is allocated to you for your own treatment. If you produce less than eight eggs, you keep all of these eggs for your own treatment, at no additional cost to you and with no further commitment to our egg-sharing scheme.
How long does egg-sharing take?
Screening you as a potential egg-sharer, and matching you to a recipient, typically takes around four weeks, although it may take longer. Once matched, your cycle of treatment takes around eight weeks from the beginning of the cycle to when you can take a pregnancy test.
What is the IVF success rate for egg-sharers?
We have excellent success rates for our patients who have IVF via egg-sharing. Currently the majority (53%) of women who egg-share with us achieve pregnancy – we only record our clinical pregnancies, which are those confirmed by fetal heartbeat at ultrasound scan at around seven weeks.
What support do I get as an egg-sharer?
As an egg-sharer you will undergo counselling with our experienced team as your treatment involves donating your eggs. Being an egg donor has implications both now and in the future, and it’s important you’re fully aware of these before you decide if egg-sharing is right for you.
